What to Do
The
best way to see Cambridge is to take a guided tour. Walking
tours leave the Tourist Information
Centre daily throughout the year, with up to four
tours a day in the summer. A Blue Badge Guide will
take you on a two hour walk around the historic city
centre, taking in Kings College Chapel.
Or hop on an open top tour bus - the guide friday buses
run every 15-30 minutes daily (depending on the season); a guideon the bus
will explain the sights as you make a circular trip of the city.
Why
not hire a punt and
view the picturesque riverside colleges from a different
angle? If you're not brave enough to give punting a
go yourself (it's not as easy as it looks!) you can
always opt for a chauffeur punt. Contact the Tourist
Information Centre for details of punting companies.
For the nature lovers among you, a visit to the University
Botanic Garden is a must. The huge collection of plants, set
in beautifully landscaped and tranquil gardens and glasshouses, offers peaceful,
colourful scenery at all times of the year.
The Cambridge
and County Folk Museum on Castle
Street is to be found in a building dating back
to the Sixteenth century. The winding staircases
lead to rooms crammed full of fascinating local
domestic items from the past 300 years. Admission
charge.
